also if you’ve ever spent any time around crack fiends or meth tweakers, watched someone be arrested for dealing, or heard/witnessed/been in gang violence related to drugs, you know how damaging drugs can be to communities and homes and families. if you’ve ever…

The various forms of social oppression all involve exploitation and control. To generate privilege, certain people have to be exploited, and to be exploited they must be controlled - directly or indirectly. The mechanisms of control, ranging from force and violence to legal restrictions to cultural beliefs, ideologies, and modes of socioeconomic integration, are therefore central to an understanding of oppression. Social oppression is a dynamic process by which one segment of society achieves power and privilege through the control and exploitation of other groups, which are literally oppressed, that is, burdened and pushed down into the lower levels of the social order.

pragmatic-realist is one of the people who would have opposed the forced end of slavery because slavery would have ‘eventually ended on it’s own’.

You know.

In a civilized wayyyyy.

oh my fucking godx
a demand for non-violence is a tool of oppressionx
this is extremely basic stuffx

I feel like most people who demand a non-violent end to oppression have probably never been oppressed.
When you make 58 cents per white man’s dollar, tell me about nonviolence.
When you can’t walk down the street at night without fearing rape, tell me about nonviolence.
When you don’t have the right to decide if another human being grows inside you, tell me about nonviolence.
When you are called a wetback, or a beaner, or a border hopper, tell me about nonviolence.
Until then, sit the fuck down.

“In order for nonviolence to work, your opponent must have a conscience.”

WHAT DRUGS ARE YOU SMOKING? Even the president wouldn’t deny that the west as a whole is MAD IMPERIALIST.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT IMPERIALISM IS?!

Dominant groups, however, typically don’t show this kind of attention and commitment to the dynamics of their own dominance. They might see themselves as burdened with the responsibility that comes with power - bosses for workers, or “protecting” and “providing” husbands for wives and children. There are few incentives, however, for them to assume responsibility for the systems that give them power and for the consequences that result.
Cal State Fresno professor gets in trouble for showing Advanced Sexual Techniques, Volume One in class

Because there is nothing as horrible as trying to set the record straight when it comes to real, inclusive, human sexuality… The nerve!

There is a sexuality class at my university where the very first week is just watching a ton of porn. According to the prof, he does this to “weed out” the students who won’t be able to handle the later material.

This class also has the longest wait-list at my university and is a fan-fucking-tastic class.

Sir, if you are going to insist on coming to my place of work and calling me a bitch, I’m going to insist that you refrain from doing so until I’m off the clock, so that I may do something about it.
A Soliloquy of Sorts: Being racist is not being crazy, people.

In class today we were talking about all of these cases of race-infused violence in the south during the Civil Rights Movement, and Emmett Till came up. And of course we talked about how brutal his murder was - he was beaten, shot in the head, drowned, one of his eyes was gouged out. There was a…
